Why It’s Important To Have A Niche On Your Social Media
Niche:ing yourself is more important than you might think on social media. This gives your followers a clear idea of what they can expect from you and if what you will post fits their interests. In this article, we will get to the bottom of why it’s important to have a niche on your social media.
Having a niche is really self explanatory. If you get a bunch of followers who are into fishing, that’s what they will want to see you post. If you all of a sudden start posting makeup photos, people will run the other way as quickly as possible and you’ll get a ton of unfollowers.
You can begin by asking yourself these questions:
What kind of followers do I have?
What does my followers enjoy?
What does my followers not enjoy?
What are my followers’ interests?
How can you actually use this?
By asking yourself these questions, you can quickly get a better understanding of what you should post on your social media and what you shouldn’t post.
When posting something less popular among your followers, it can often be seen in the form of less engagement which is likes, comments and reach. By looking at these types of indications and taking wisdom from them, you can adapt and tweak your pages to the point where you are posting top-notch content that your followers love.
If you think about it, it is just like a business where you remove the things that are less popular among customers while replacing them with new, more popular things. By simply giving the points above some thought, you’ve already come far. Because the first step is identifying the problem and then coming up with solutions to it.
If you don’t yet know what niche:ing on social media means, I’ll describe it briefly.
Instagram niche:ing means that you stick to a few “overall” similarities on all your posts. This means focusing on one or a few very similar things. For example, if your niche is Golf, then you should only post content that has something to do with your niche, for example golf clubs, professional golf players and golf balls.
How Do you Decide on a nice?
Deciding on a niche isn’t that difficult. Just ask yourself: What do I like? Sounds reasonable right? If you don’t have a passion for what you will be posting, then you’ll quickly lose your motivation and quit. Consistency is key on social media. Especially when it comes to continuing on your track. If you decide to post food, then stick to food! Don’t start posting sport cars or yachts all of a sudden just because it’s trendy! After all, that’s not what your followers wants to see.
This, however, does not mean you shouldn’t try new out new things. In the beginning, you have to do a lot of testing. Try everything if you have to! But once you’ve got past the initial stage of finding what you like, then stick to it because chances are, once people start following you, it’s because they like the style of photos you post.
When people are scrolling through Instagram and stumble across your page, you only have a very short time to impress them! It is important to make it count!
Stay Consistent
Staying consistent is a surefire way to add credibility to your brand. Whether you want to post once a day, once a week, or even once a month, make sure to post at similar times each time so that your followers know when to expect an update from you. This is also a form of niche:ing your page as a “once a week”page or “twice a day” poster, this will surely help your followers get a better understanding of your page.
